Throw some chocolate in that

Who says that chocolate is only for consumption? Creativity flows like a chocolate fountain when you abandon traditional ideas and go cocoa-crazy. Here is a short list of the many things that allow chocoholics to take their favorite food beyond the tongue.

Toothpaste For years fluoride has been the favorite in dental hygiene, but the danger of consumption has always lurked in the back of our minds. Are pearly whites worth the toxicity of our toothpaste? In the 1980s, Dr. Tetsu Nakamoto discovered Rennou, a natural extract from the cocoa bean that may even work better than fluoride. Thus came Theodent, what the website deems to “represent the first major innovative discovery in oral care in over a century.” The “chocolate toothpaste” comes in three different options, including one for kids, but all still have that minty taste we want in a toothpaste.

Body Scrub Do-it-yourself sugar scrubs are wonderful exfoliants that leave the skin soft and smooth. There are a plethora of bloggers who have shared their favorite recipes for this homemade beauty product, and many of them include chocolate! By mixing cocoa with natural moisturizer coconut oil and exfoliant sugar, you have a body scrub good enough to eat.

Makeup “Too Faced” describes itself as “a serious makeup brand that knows how to have fun.” What better way to add flair to your everyday beauty routine than adding a sweet spin on cosmetics? While the eyeshadows and mascaras themselves don’t include actual chocolate, the aroma and presentation of each are modeled after actual treats. The brand sells products such as “Chocolate Bar Eye Shadow,” “Cocoa Contour,” and eyebrow pencils entitled “Chocolate Brow-nie.” Puns and chocolate? Yes please!

Soap Due to the many health benefits of the cocoa bean, lathering on suds containing dark chocolate will make you candy-coated but clean. This is another creation that you could make at home, or buy at a specialty shop or website. Just the idea of unwinding in the bathtub with the aroma of chocolate rising around you is worth the purchase.

Perfume Yes the taste is delicious, but the smell makes it all the more irresistible. Chocolate-scented colognes and body sprays are being sold across the market from designer varieties to affordable brands like Axe.

Candles This one is no surprise, as we love filling our homes with our favorite scents. I received one of these in a package from home but haven’t lit it as an open flame isn’t allowed in the dorms, wonder why…  Amazingly, just sitting unlit on my desk allows notes of cocoa to dance across my nostrils whenever I enter my room.

There are so many products available to add a bit of sweetness to life. Comment below what your favorite inedible chocolate “thing” is. Chocolate is just another example of the creativity we are capable of when fueled by sugar and an obsession.

I LOVEEEE LOVEE LOVEE THIS!! I have to say this is one of the most original blogs I have come across. I laughed at the fact you also used the word “plethora”, I thought I was the only one who used it. My favorite non-edible chocolate invention would have to be the body scrub, but the toothpaste is somewhat scary and enticing, I have yet to try it. Keep up the creativity and authenticity.

I love chocolate as much as the next person, but I don’t think I could handle chocolate toothpaste, perfume or candles. I also agree with Parker; your writing is amazing!
